Mike Moos moved to the Village in 1990 and presently has over 40 years of public safety experience. He was appointed by the Village as the Emergency Management Director in 2001 and is certified by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency as an Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM).
In addition to his IPEM, Director Moos has numerous public safety certifications in Emergency Medical Services, the Fire Service, Emergency Management and Incident Management. He has national credentials as a Safety Officer, Liaison Officer and Public Information Officer. Mike retired from the State in 2012. At that time, he was the Manager of Homeland Security for the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and Co-Chair of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force Public Information Committee.
In addition to those activities Director Moos was a volunteer with the Sherman Fire Protection District for 16 years and retired (in 2001) at the rank of Assistant Chief. Director Moos volunteers for the American Red Cross serving at the State Emergency Operations Center Red Cross desk. He has a Master’s of Science degree in Occupational Safety and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Mike is married to Mary with three grown children. They reside in Sherman.
